Aseptic Compounding Courses

These courses are intended for both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and the material covered will be tailored to the scope of practice of the course mix of up to twelve students on each occasion. They are provided on site or nearby the participants’ workplace over up to 5 days. 

The courses aim to have participants achieve:

  • full understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice as currently required by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and Pharmacy Board of Australia
  • appreciation of the rationale for clean spaces, cleanroom design, operation and optimal use of equipment
  • understand the risks involved and possible consequences if good risk management measures are not followed
  • manual aseptic proficiencies and skills, including those used when handling hazardous drugs, e.g. cytotoxic agents.

The courses are:

  • accredited by The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia. Pharmacists earn up to 60 SHPA continuing profession development (CPD) points for comprehensive course completion
  • designed to address all aspects of aseptic compounding and are not confined to Oncology
  • able to cover all currently possible workplace configurations and devices
  • not requiring access to pharmacy cleanrooms so there is no disruption to pharmacy workflow
  • comprised of 50% theory and 50% hands-on instruction
  • accompanied by a 200+ page personalized Training Manual
  • able to provide operator validation on request
  • designed to provide up-to-the-minute coverage of Australian and International Standards and Guidelines
  • Informal and enjoyable – evaluation scores are typically >90%
