We are registered pharmacists. Our personnel have acquired in excess of four decades’ experience in both hospital pharmacy practice (particularly in parenteral nutrition and cytotoxic drug provision) and in the pharmaceutical industry (developing commercial aseptic compounding services).

What We Do

mel davis & associates is a consultancy service that assists hospital pharmacists, hospital authorities, the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory bodies and Standards Committees, providing advice and education in matters concerning preparation of injectable drugs. We also design facilities in which drugs are aseptically prepared.  We are trainers in aseptic compounding of injectable medicines in hospital pharmacies, assisting operators in achieving regulatory compliance.

Mel Davis


Mel Davis graduated from the University of Tasmania. He gained experience at Royal Hobart Hospital, Preston and Northcote Community Hospital, Victoria and became Deputy Director of Pharmacy at Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne. He commissioned the Pharmacy Service at the (then) newly established Woden Valley Hospital in Canberra (now The Canberra Hospital). He then joined Travenol Laboratories (now Baxter Healthcare) in Sydney to establish and operate the world’s second (after the UK) commercial Aseptic Compounding Service. He became Executive Clinical Consultant for Baxter International and taught hospital and Baxter staff in Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil and throughout China. He conducted an annual International Aseptic Dispensing Course for the Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore from 1994 to 2004.

Mel established mel davis & associates as an independent consultancy in 2005.
